Assess shared Splunk knowledge objects without mutating them. Keep documented product behavior separate from facts observed in the user's deployment.
When to Use
Use this skill to:
- answer general inventory, naming, permissions, orphan, lifecycle, REST/ACL, and app-packaging governance questions from public Splunk documentation;
- inventory object type, app/context, owner, sharing, and role exposure;
- assess supported ownership, orphan, offboarding, ACL, collision, dependency, lookup, and cross-member consistency risks; or
- produce a prioritized, non-destructive review or recovery plan.
Keep authoring and symptom diagnosis outside this skill. Route broken SPL,
searches, reports, or dashboards to splunk-search; object implementation to
the relevant authoring specialist; alert/notable design to its workflow; and
bundle pressure, scheduler impact, cluster health, or repair execution to
a Splunk platform operations specialist. Use a general Cloud admin workflow only
for a Cloud administration action it explicitly owns.
