Skill instructions

Assess whether a Splunk data model, data-model acceleration summary, or report acceleration object is ready and what supplied evidence says about its health. Keep documentation, configured intent, observed state, and runtime proof separate. Guidance is advisory and non-mutating.

When to Use

Use this skill when the requested outcome is one or more of these:

  • assess the semantic and object readiness of a data model or dataset;
  • decide whether enabling or changing acceleration is ready for owner review;
  • explain what summary range, build, backfill, lag, stale coverage, or incomplete summary evidence establishes;
  • assess summary-only versus mixed raw-and-summary completeness evidence;
  • assess report-acceleration qualification and readiness;
  • compare data-model acceleration, report acceleration, or no acceleration for a supplied repeated analytics objective;
  • assess sharing an existing acceleration summary across eligible search tiers; or
  • produce an object-specific, non-mutating troubleshooting or ownership handoff.

Route work that crosses the boundary:

  • field extraction, aliases, calculated fields, lookups, tags, event types, and CIM mapping implementation or repair -> a field-extraction and CIM-mapping specialist. Route explicitly whenever any such implementation or repair is required; listing the missing semantic artifacts is not a substitute for the handoff;
  • SPL construction, explanation, or execution -> a Splunk search specialist;
  • one existing functional search that is slow, expensive, queued, or needs a semantics-preserving rewrite -> a search-performance specialist;
  • ACLs, sharing policy, orphaning, reassignment, naming, packaging, deletion, or broad knowledge-object lifecycle -> Knowledge Object Governance; and
  • deployment-wide search pressure, memory or OOM, scheduler/concurrency, disk, service health, outage, crash, restart, or active remediation -> a Splunk platform operations specialist or Splunk Support.

Preserve the acceleration-specific evidence before routing. Do not continue acceleration tuning while an active platform-pressure or service condition is unresolved.

When any broad ACL, sharing-policy, orphaning, reassignment, naming, packaging, deletion, or lifecycle decision is material, state the exact route as Knowledge Object Governance (a knowledge-object governance specialist) in the ownership matrix. Keep object-specific acceleration evidence here; do not use a generic administrator or provider owner as a substitute for the governance handoff.
