Excel Extract

The Splunk Excel Extraction app enables users to export Splunk search results as native Excel (.xlsx) workbooks directly from Simple XML dashboards. Unlike Splunk's built-in CSV export, this app produces .xlsx files that open in Excel without format warnings and preserve Unicode characters and accents. The app operates entirely in the browser using SheetJS, requiring no server-side components or external services. It retrieves the complete result set of any dashboard search, not just the visible table rows, and writes numbers as numeric cells, _time fields as Excel dates, and multivalue fields as multi-line cells. Users can export multiple searches into a single workbook with one sheet per search, and configure exports entirely through HTML data attributes on a dashboard button. The app includes two demonstration dashboards that work with data available on any Splunk instance.
