The NetKit Add-on collects network probe telemetry and emits it as JSON events: TCP connect latency, internet throughput, DNS resolution, and TLS certificate health. Four scheduled modular inputs write the sourcetypes netkit:ping, netkit:speedtest, netkit:dns, and netkit:tls, with probe execution logs captured to _internal as netkit_log. Targets, resolvers, schedules, and private CAs are managed from the add-on's Splunk Web UI. The add-on runs on a full Splunk Enterprise instance (heavy forwarder, standalone, or search head). Universal Forwarders cannot run these inputs. Install the companion NetKit App on your search heads for dashboards, field extraction, and CIM normalization.
