Initial Setup

Install the Lookup Editor AX app through the Splunk web interface or by extracting the package to $SPLUNK_HOME/etc/apps/.
Restart Splunk to register the custom capabilities (lookup_ax_admin and lookup_ax_edit) with the authorization system. The capabilities will not be available for assignment until the restart completes.
Navigate to Settings → Access controls → Roles in the Splunk web interface.
For each role that should manage CSV schemas and have unrestricted editing access, click the role name, scroll to the Capabilities section, and check lookup_ax_admin. Save the role.
For roles that should edit lookup files but not manage schemas, grant only lookup_ax_edit.

Schema Registration

Before users can edit a CSV lookup file through the Editors interface:

Log in with a user account that has the lookup_ax_admin capability.
Open the Lookup AX - Manager dashboard from the app navigation.
Register a schema for each CSV lookup file users need to edit. Schema registration identifies the target CSV file, defines its structure, and determines which users can access it.
Once a schema is registered, the CSV file will appear in the Lookup AX - Editors and Lookup AX - List pages for authorized users.

After installation and capability assignment:

Users with lookup_ax_admin or lookup_ax_edit should see the app navigation bar and dashboards without a lock notice.
The Lookup AX - List page should display available CSV files, with registered files showing a badge indicator.
Attempting to open the Lookup AX - Editors page should present tabs for registered CSV files based on the user's read permissions for the containing apps.
