Pony Poll — Live Quiz for Splunk turns any Splunk instance into a live interactive quiz — no external database, no middleware, no extra infrastructure.
Hosts run timed, scored sessions in two modes: synchronized, where the presenter controls pace and everyone sees the same question at the same second, or self-paced, where each participant moves independently. Six question types are supported: single answer, multiple answer, yes/no, free text, slider/rating, and word cloud. A projector view provides a read-only wall-screen display that updates automatically throughout the session.
All participant answers land in Splunk as native events (ponypoll_answer, ponypoll_attempt, ponypoll_presence). Session state and quiz content live in KV Store. The leaderboard is a stats query. The real-time lobby runs on KV Store writes. This is not a Splunk add-on that wraps an external polling service — it is a demonstration of what Splunk can do out of the box, built for workshops, training sessions, and anyone who wants to show their audience that Splunk is more than a search bar.
The app ships with predefined roles for hosts and participants, an analytics dashboard for reviewing quiz performance across sessions, a drag-and-drop question editor with import/export, and a built-in quiz library with ready-made content.
