Description

The iDelta Add-on for Solcast allows you to pull Solar PV Panel output predictions from Solcast into Splunk.

The add-on pulls data using the Hobbyist Get Rooftop Forecast endpoint: Get Rooftop Forecast API Docs

Pre-Requisites

you need to have an account and your solar panel PV array setup on solcast.com
you need to have you API Key (available once logged in to solcast.com)
you need to know the resource_id of your solar array (visible once setup and logged in to solcast.com)

Using the data

Simple Timechart

The following search should produce a simple timechart showing your estimated PV output per 30 mins:
index=solcast latest=+3d
|timechart span=30m latest(pv_estimate) as pv_estimate

Hints and Tips

Timestamps are in the future

Remember ... this add-on is producing a future prediction, therefore the timestamps of the data are ... in the future
Adjust your search time range accordingly (i.e. latest=+3d)

API Calls are limited

Solcast limit the number of API calls you can make in a day (10 api calls allowed), it is therefore easy to hit this limit. Limit the number of calls by setting a suitably high Interval (on the Input configuration). A setting of 14400 is every 4 hours.
