If you're looking for attaching CMDB to Splunk or feel that you have information in Splunk for which the relationships in between are more important then this app is what you need.
This app is the official Common Metadata Data Model app. It will contain everything related to:
- Managing the Neo4j Graph database that is underneath this app.
- Managing the integration with ServiceNow CMDB, Incidents, Problems, Changes, Users, and Groups
- Manage the accounts for writing to the Neo4j Graph database
- Managing the modular inputs to output data from Splunk to the CMDM. So this is the part of getting data out of Splunk to CMDM, also called discovery.
The first integration into the CMDM is focused on ServiceNow CMDB (including relationships), Incidents, Problems, Changes, Users, and Groups. I like to say that this offers a functional integration of ServiceNow with Splunk. As an example one can ask the CMDM to: give me all open incidents for the ServiceNow groups that a particular user belongs to, or give me all servers/hosts that are part of a certain business application. All ServiceNow CMDB/CSDM tables are supported and one can specify which fields/attributes to get over to the CMDM.
This CMDM app is not containing the logic/scripts to get information out of ServiceNow and put that into CMDM. For that a separate container is necessary that has access to the internet, to connect to the ServiceNow API, and connects to where the CMDM underlying Neo4j Graph database is located. Please contact the developer for more information.
This app also contains a new search command called "gwriter" to write Splunk content back to CMDM (Neo4j).
To query the CMDM the free "Neo4j Commands app" is needed.
The CMDM is relying on the popular and most known graph database called Neo4j. The CMDM can work with all of their editions from community to enterprise to SAAS edition.
And don't let you discourage by the version of this app as the backend code (ServiceNow part) is ready. This CMDM app is going to have a front-end for the configuration of the back-end.
If you want to discuss other use cases, other integrations, other imports, or want to have it running from Splunk Cloud please contact the developer.
