JFrog Platform Log Analytics

Splunk Cloud
Overview
Details
This app helps process extracted logs for the JFrog Platform, the universal, hybrid end-to-end DevOps platform. It should be a great help for any JFrog customer, but particularly for those managing multiple JFrog Platform high availability nodes. The app includes a complete diagnostic dashboard view for JFrog Artifactory with a few helpful views for Xray error tracking. Please let JFrog know what else you would like to see, and feel free to visit our Github for more documentation at: github.com/jfrog/log-analytics. Please see our blog for a walkthrough on how to setup the integration: https://jfrog.com/blog/unified-jfrog-log-analytics-with-splunk/

JFrog Platform Log Analytics Splunk App

Getting Started

Install the app in your Splunk instance. Then restart your Splunk instance by going to Server Controls > Restart.

Create the HEC Data Input to Receive Data

You may need to create a new HTTP Event Collector data input. You can do this at Settings > Data Inputs > HTTP Event Collector. Use the JFrog app as the context. Then use the token as the HEC_TOKEN as described below in the FluentD configuration.

Install FluentD

FluentD is used to send log events, violations and metrics to Splunk. This repo contains instructions on various installations options for Fluentd as a logging agent. The FluentD configuration must specify the HEC_HOST, HEC_PORT and HEC_TOKEN.

For Logs,
<match jfrog.**>
  @type splunk_hec
  protocol COM_PROTOCOL
  hec_host HEC_HOST <-- splunk host
  hec_port HEC_PORT <-- splunk HEC port
  hec_token HEC_TOKEN <-- replace HEC_TOKEN
  index jfrog_splunk
  format json
  # buffered output parameter
  flush_interval 10s
  insecure_ssl INSECURE_SSL
  # ssl parameter
  use_ssl false
  ca_file /path/to/ca.pem
</match>

For Metrics,
<match jfrog.metrics.**>
  @type splunk_hec
  datatype metric
  protocol COM_PROTOCOL
  hec_host HEC_HOST <-- splunk host
  hec_port HEC_PORT <-- splunk HEC port
  hec_token METRICS_HEC_TOKEN <-- replace METRICS_HEC_TOKEN for Metrics Use
  index jfrog_splunk_metrics
  format json
  # buffered output parameter
  flush_interval 10s
  insecure_ssl INSECURE_SSL
  # ssl parameter
  use_ssl false
  ca_file /path/to/ca.pem
</match>

#END SPLUNK OUTPUT
