Overview
Details
Azure Event Hubs Log Integrator enables you to automatically download/capture the streaming data within your Event Hubs Azure Blob storage.

Capture is a feature of Azure Event Hubs. You can use it to automatically deliver the streaming data in your event hub to an Azure Blob storage account of your choice. This capability makes it easy to perform batch processing on real-time streaming data.

The Azure event hub must be configured to use the Capture feature to write the data to an Azure Blob Storage. This Add-On read Blob Storage data and push the events to Splunk.
  • In order to use this Addon make sure you're running the Splunk instance under admin/root privileges.
  • First configure an Azure Event Hub of your choice. Then configure the Azure Monitor - Activity Log > "Export to Event Hub" feature and mark "Export to an event hub", select "Service bus namespace" for the Event Hub. This will automatically create a Blob Container named "insights-operational-logs".
  • The App will read Apache AVRO format data directly from the "insights-operational-logs" blob container.

You must provide the following parameters to create an Event Hubs input:

  • Storage Account Name
  • Storage Account Access Key
  • Container name

Instead of the official Apache Avro™ python libraries, this Add-On uses -FASTAVRO- library which is an alternative implementation that has much better performance. You can find the fastavro documentation here: https://fastavro.readthedocs.io/en/latest/

For optimal results, configure the following PROPS.CONF Stanza:

[aeh]
INDEXED_EXTRACTIONS = json
KV_MODE = none
AUTO_KV_JSON = false
NO_BINARY_CHECK = true
SHOULD_LINEMERGE = false
TIMESTAMP_FIELDS = time
crcSalt = <source>
description = Azure Event Hubs JSON logs
disabled = false
pulldown_type = true
