This app will allow you to send SMS alerts from Splunk without using Internet connection.

The app allows to send text messages from your Splunk instance directly to 3G/4G network using SMSEagle. SMSEagle device sends SMS directly to cellular network. There is no third-party external services between. This ensures full security and privacy of information shared across your IT infrastructure. And your SMS will get through even if your Internet connection fails.
How to use it?
1) Get your SMSEagle
2) Insert your SIM card into SMSEagle
3) Connect SMSEagle to your IT infrastructure
4) Configure the app in Splunk

Now you can send SMS alerts from your Splunk instance directly to 3G/4G network.


This is a Splunk Modular Alert for sending SMS messages using SMSEagle hardware SMS gateway.


• Splunk 6.3+
• Supported on Windows, Linux, MacOS, Solaris, FreeBSD, HP-UX, AIX


• Download the tar. Go to Manage Apps > Choose File to Upload and Done.
• Restart Splunk


Create user account on your SMSEagle device.

Enter SMSEagle configuration details in Splunk: browse to Apps -> SMSEagle -> Configuration. Enter SMSEagle User, Password and URL. SMSEagle URL should be in form: IP.ADDRESS.OF.SMSEAGLE (for example:


Perform a search in Splunk and then navigate to : Save As -> Alert -> Trigger Actions -> Add Actions -> SMSEagle SMS Alerts
On this dialogue you can enter your "Message",
"Phone Number" in Format (country code + number), for example: +1XXXXXXXXXXXXX (Without any _ or any other symbol).
and can select whether this message is of high priority, is a flash message and want to encode using Unicode.
"Phone Number" can also be a comma delimited list of numbers
You can also enter date in YYYYmmDDHHMM to schedule it to a particular GMT date time.

Splunk_SA_CIM is required by this app.


Browse to See triggered Alerts: Settings -> Alert Actions -> SMSEagle SMS Alerts -> View Log Events
Or you can search logs of alerts directly in Splunk : index=_internal sourcetype="ta:smseagle:sms:alerting:log" action_name=sms_eagle


1) Is your "Phone Number" correct and valid?
2) Are your alerts actually firing ?
3) Are your Username and Password correct?
