Details
This application helps you troubleshoot and explore the data models supplied with the Splunk Common Information Model (CIM). From the configured indexes, to tags per data model and even the percentage of "unknown" fields values, this app has it all.

You can also review suggested indexes that can be added to data models based on the tags found.

This application helps you troubleshoot and explore the data models supplied with the Splunk Common Information Model (CIM). From the configured indexes, to tags per data model and even the percentage of "unknown" fields values, this app has it all.

You can also review suggested indexes that can be added to data models based on the tags found.

Installation:
This only needs to be installed on the search head of where you have Splunk Common Information Model (CIM) or Enterprise Security (ES) installed.

After installing the app, be sure to enable the following searches:

  • Datamodel Index Sourcetype Analysis - Lookup Gen

  • Index Sourcetype Analysis - Lookup Gen

    • Default to summaries only for data model searches
      This can be changed to false in the dmm_summaries_only_dm macro
    • Data Model - Field Analysis
      Added tabs to view either the Recommended Fields or the Remaining Fields
      The fields for both are per the Splunk CIM data model documentation
      Positive Heat Map
      The lower the percentage of unknown or null values the darker the green
      This is currently only coloring a max of 9 unique index/sourcetypes, if you need more let us know and we will increase it in future versions
      We also match on "- Reviewed" to enable dark green for all reviewed fields
    • Administration - Review Fields
      This form allows you to add a field, by data model, index and sourcetype, that you have reviewed as well as a comment
      You can also view the fields reviewed on the Field Analysis panel in the Reviewed Fields tab or you can see - Reviewed in the other tabs
