Add-on for azure log analytics

Overview
Details
TA fetches events from azure log analytics using Microsoft loganalytics rest API.
Features
  • TA supports oAuth2 for authentication
  • TA creates unique checkpoint to each input created.
  • TA makes each call to collect only 10 minutes of events to reduce the response size.
  • example: If input is configured to collect events for last 7 days, then TA will make total 1008 API calls. (6 calls per hour, 6*24 calls per day, 6*24*7 calls for 7 days.)

Prerequisites

follow the link below to know how to get Client ID, Client Secret, Workspace ID.
https://dev.loganalytics.io/oms/documentation/1-Tutorials/1-Direct-API

TA requires forllowing attributes
  • Name - Name of the Input
  • Interval - How frequently events need to be collected from log analytics
  • Index - Name of the index in which logs get stored
  • Tenant ID - Azure Tenant ID
  • Client ID - Application ID which has been granted access to log analytics workspace
  • Client Secret - Application secret key of Client/Application ID
  • Workspace ID - workspace in which Query/Table name avaialable
  • Query/Table Name - Table from which events need to be fetched.
  • Collect Events From - Time from when events need to be collected. It's optional and if no value given then default to last 7 days.
  • Event Delay - Agent installed on azure devices will take sometime to forward events to log analytics workspace. so it's very rare that events are available in log analytics realtime. This is to specify expected delay in minutes.
  • Source Type - to set custom source type for each input.
Troubleshooting

set logging to DEBUG mode and use below search to troubleshoot the TA.
index=_internal source=*ta_azure_log_analytics_azure_loganalytics.log
