VCO Events to Splunk from VMware SD-WAN

Splunk Cloud
Overview
Details
VCO Events to Splunk from VMware® SD-WAN via the VCO REST API.

The API call to VeloCloud Orchestrator (VCO) specifies an interval to minimize the performance impact to VCO of frequent API calls. It is recommended an interval of 120-600 seconds to poll VCO.

ds_sdwan_events

A Splunk app that polls VMware(r) SD-WAN VCO event log for logging to Splunk. The VCO contains both SD-WAN Edge operational events such as Edge Up and Down, Link Down and Up, together with security activities such as users logging into the VCO and associated configuration changes.

Although SD-WAN Edges can be configured to log to syslog, there are additional operational actviities that occur within the VCO which are of interest to IT Operations / Security Operations.

I recommend a polling interval to VCO no less than 120 seconds and 300 seconds is what I regard as normal.

This app has been available for more than two years in the form of https://github.com/djsincla/TA_VeloCloud and was updated and renamed for hosting on Splunk. Source for this application is now available here: https://github.com/djsincla/ds_sdwan_events
