MVISION EPO

Splunk Cloud
Overview
Details
MVISION EPO App provides the ability to pull Events from MVISION EPO via MVISION API.

Splunk MVISION EPO App

The MVISION ePO Application for Splunk leverages a script to gather the MVISION ePO threat events from the MVISION API configured under the application. This raw data can then be composed into a dashboard displaying Threat Events detected, trends in detections, hostnames and severity ratings from the previous 7 days. Additional views can be created from the raw data through Splunk’s Search and Visualization engine.

Requirements:
MVISION ePO Tenant
MVISION API License (requires an active account, sold separately)
MVISION Developer Portal Access (used to request ClientID, Client Secret and desired scopes)

Part 1: Retrieve ClientID, API Key, API Client Secret, and scopes for the API

Register or Login to the MVISION Developer Portal (https://developer.mcafee.com/) and navigate to API Access Management located under Self Service.
Request new client credentials for the scope epo.evt.r. Once the IAM Scopes are submitted, the request will be processed by McAfee engineering.

Part 2: Install and Configure Application

Download the MVISION EPO Splunk App.

Navigate to the Apps Menu | Manage Apps | Install app from file. Select Browse and select the .tgz application file to upload. Select Upload.

To setup the page go to Managed Apps | MVISION EPO | Set Up.
Enter the MVISION API Key, API Client ID and API Client Secret from the earlier steps. Additionally, ensure that the check box “Disable” is not checked otherwise the app will not run.

The check box “Disable” should only be unchecked on heavy forwarders. Leave the script disabled on Indexers.

Navigate to Settings | Data Inputs | Scripts to verify that the mvepo_events.py script is enabled.

Part 3: Verify

Open the MVISION API App by navigating to the Apps Menu and selecting MVISION EPO. Under the Search tab, search the index with the query “sourcetype="mcafee:mvepo:events”.

The results returned are by default 7 days of threat events from MVISION ePO.

Part 4: Logging

Application and data is stored under the following directories:
%directory%\Splunk\etc\apps\mvepo
%directory%\Splunk\var\log\splunk\mveepo_logger.txt
