SAML Authentication configurator

Splunk AppInspect Passed
Admins: Please read about Splunk Enterprise 8.0 and the Python 2.7 end-of-life changes and impact on apps and upgradeshere.
Managing SAML group mapping in the Splunk UI can be troublesome and prone to user error.
The authentication.conf file can be managed manually with on-premise instances if you're happy making custom changes in the terminal, however if you have limited access to the infrastructure (such as SplunkCloud) then this app will help remove human error and save time when managing your SAML group mappings.

# Known issues
Inconsistent results when using saml-add on more than 1 group. Fixed in version 1.0.11
Issue reported when using no authentication. Fixed in version 1.0.6

Detailed documentation to follow.

  • samlpull - This pulls an authentication.conf file from the specified location within the app configuration and outputs the samlgroup and splunkgroup fields.
  • samladd - This takes two fields (samlgroup/splunkgroup) from results and adds them to the SAML auth config. Output is an additional field in the results to show success/failure. Splunk group must exist before adding to SAML config.
  • samldel - This takes one field (samlgroup) from results and deletes the specified SAML group mapping.
