Splunk Dashboards App (Beta)

Splunk Built
Admins: Please read about Splunk Enterprise 8.0 and the Python 2.7 end-of-life changes and impact on apps and upgradeshere.
The beta Splunk Dashboard app for Enterprise is a completely new way to create dashboards and visualizations. Built on an entirely different framework than the classic dashboards, this beta app offers a new visual editing experience that gives you the ability to add and customize shapes, icons, text, and images in addition to classic visualizations, all on a drag-and-drop canvas editor. It also allows you to control the dashboard background (either the color or custom background images). In addition, with this beta app you can easily change visualization configurations in the side panel visual editor, or in the new source editor. While current Splunk dashboards are built on an XML framework, the new beta Dashboard app is built using JSON modules.

This beta app helps give pixel-perfect control on dashboard components and makes creating dashboards both simple and fun, and make interactivity through drilldowns and tokens even simpler. It also supports conversion of tradition Simple XML dashboards to the new framework, to allow you to modify your traditional dashboards to make them even more visually compelling.

Because this is a beta app, there are some Simple XML features that are not currently available in the new framework. However, such features will become available in future updates. This beta app is meant to introduce you to a new, powerful way of building dashboards with your data using Splunk!

Please send any feedback you may have about this beta app to dashboards-beta@splunk.com. See the “details” tab for more information on how to do so.

Detail is provided in documentation: https://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/DashApp/latest/DashApp/Install
If you are upgrading from a private beta version of this application, there may be breaking changes. You may need to recreate certain dashboard components as a result.
Versions 0.2.0 and 0.1.0 of this app require installation via CLI. Please use the latest version of this app for the best experience.

Caveats & Known Issues

This app is currently in beta, and is unsupported. As such, Splunk, Inc. will not support or diagnose any issues that come as a result of usage of this beta app.
Some key simple XML features are not currently available in the app, or are available through the source editor but not through the UI. Upcoming releases will bridge the gap to match most simple XML features.
Conversion from simple XML to the new framework is also in beta; as such, not all simple XML dashboards may successfully convert.
This app does not support HTML, CSS, or JavaScript, nor does it support conversions of HTML, CSS, or JavaScript customizations in simple XML dashboards.
