IP Analytics for Splunk

Splunk Certified
Use IP Analytics for Splunk to identify malware C2 traffic and anonymized circuits (e.g. Tor, I2P, and Freenet) within your environment. The app uses the AlphaSOC Analytics Engine to flag anomalies and populate a Data Loss Prevention tab showing high volumes of exfiltrated data.

Use IP Analytics for Splunk to identify malware and suspicious behavior within your networks. Before installing the application, you should be indexing IP connection logs from your infrastructure (e.g. firewall logs or data from full packet capture).

Install the application within Splunk by browsing to Apps > Manage Apps > Find more apps online, and searching for IP Analytics, or uploading the package to your Search Head.

API Key Generation

If you already have an AlphaSOC API key (i.e. you are a DNS Analytics for Splunk user), please locate the key under the Settings tab (top-right) and copy/paste it across into IP Analytics for Splunk by selecting "I'm an existing user" during setup. If you do not have an AlphaSOC key, please generate one by selecting "I'm a new user" accordingly.

Product Setup

Once installed, please follow the configuration and activation steps found within The app looks for CIM compliant IP communication events within Splunk. By default, the app will look for data to process in all of the indexes, and store alert data in the main index. You can optimize the application and specify indexes to read data from and write alerts to under the Settings tab (top-left).

Data Processing

This application does not send data to the AlphaSOC API for scoring. It retrieves threat intelligence feeds from AlphaSOC and then performs correlation and scoring locally within Splunk.

Technical Support
